The government has extended restrictions on sugar exports until October 31 next year, a measure aimed at increasing the availability of the raw material in the domestic market.
Previously, the restrictions were imposed until October 31 this year.
“The restriction on sugar exports (raw, refined and white) will be extended beyond October 31, 2022 to October 31, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Other conditions remain unchanged,” said the Directorate-General for Foreign Affairs. trade. (DGFT) in a notification dated 28 October.
However, it said these restrictions will not apply to sugar exported to the EU and US under CXL and TRQ duty quotas. Under CXL and TRQ (tariff quota), a certain amount of sugar is exported to these regions.
India has been the world’s largest producer and second largest exporter of sugar in the current year.
