The Indian cricket team has the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in hand and has won the first two matches convincingly. While the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, etc. have impressed, skipper Rohit Sharma's form has not been the best. After running out in the first match without opening his account, Rohit fell for a duck in the second match too. While there is no doubt about the Hitman's abilities, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has questioned his shot selection after the strange dismissal in the second T20I on Sunday.
Rohit looked to step out and smash the ball on the first delivery he faced from Fazalhaq Farooqi. But missed the ball completely and saw it hit the stumps. Chopra did not shy away from criticizing the India skipper in a video on his YouTube channel.
“It was extremely surprising how Rohit came out. He was only playing his first ball. He doesn't play shots like that. The ball went and hit his stumps. He got run out in the last match and was bowled for nil in this match. He has not scored a single run in this series so far,” Chopra said.
“Run-out was not his fault but the shot selection certainly was. There is no doubt about the form and ability of Rohit Sharma. However, he will have to be in good form in the IPL and I think he will only bat like that .We need it.” 38-40, the runs he scored in the ODI World Cup, off his bat,” he added.

With the 2024 T20 World Cup competition approaching, Rohit will be competing against a number of youngsters like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, etc. for the opening spot in the team.
Virat Kohli, who made his T20I comeback after a 14-month gap, also seemed to have opted for an aggressive approach in the match. He scored a 16-ball 29 before dying at the hands of Naveen-ul-Haq.
