Indian cricket team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin amassed 43 rating points, reaching a total of 883 to be 25 points behind best-placed bowler Pat Cummins and 67 points ahead of third-placed Josh Hazelwood in the MRF Tires ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings. Ashwin also moved up to take second in the all-rounder list, while Ravindra Jadeja dropped to fourth. Lead-off hitter Mayank Agarwal and New Zealand left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel climbed into the final rankings after a successful two-game test series on the individual front. After a mediocre first Test in Kanpur, Mayank registered scores of 150 and 62 runs in both innings of the second Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Mayank’s battles on a rotating field helped India win the second Test and take the series 1-0. Mayank moved up 30 spots to reach 11th position in the latest weekly update of the men’s rankings.
Shubman Gill took 21 places to finish in 45th place, while pacer Mohammad Siraj also moved up to 41st place. New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell also enjoyed a 26-place increase to 78th.
Ajaz, on the other hand, moved 23 slots to 38th in the Test bowler’s rankings after his memorable 10-wicket haul in an innings in the Mumbai Test.
Ajaz ran through the defense of the entire Indian team as he grabbed all the headlines and became only the third player in Test cricket history to win 10 wickets in one inning.
