Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar congratulated the Australian team for clinching their sixth ODI World Cup trophy and shared a heartwarming message for the Indian team. India came close but ultimately were too far away from lifting the much-awaited Cricket World Cup trophy. Sachin admitted that the Baggy Greens played better cricket and praised the Men in Blue for giving their all in the tournament. “Congratulations to Australia on their sixth World Cup win. On the biggest day on the biggest stage they played better cricket. Tough luck Team India, just one bad day in an otherwise excellent tournament can be heartbreaking. I can imagine the pain of the players , fans and well-wishers and what they have to go through. Losses are a part of the sport but let’s not forget that this unit gave everything for us throughout the tournament,” Sachin wrote on X.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah lauded the steadfast spirit and never-die attitude of the Indian team.
“While the Men in Blue may have fallen short in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final against Australia, their journey has left an indelible mark of inspiration. From triumph to trial, every match became a testament to our team’s unwavering spirit, determination and skill. They won all 10 matches leading up to the final and showcased the true essence of cricket – a game as unpredictable as it is beautiful. The entire country rallied behind our boys and transformed this World Cup into a nationwide celebration of cricket in India. The energy, passion and unyielding support from the entire population was truly incredible. To every member of Team India, I express my sincere gratitude. Your dedication, hard work and perseverance have created moments of pure joy during this tournament. You have made us proud, not only with your victories, but also with the way you played the game: with heart and soul, with pride and with a ‘never say never’ attitude. This World Cup was not just about victories; it was about the emotions, the camaraderie and the indomitable spirit of Team India. Thank you for the joy and the unforgettable moments. On the Men in Blue: real champions in every respect. The journey may have ended, but the pride and love for our team will resonate forever,” Shah wrote on X.
