MS Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the most loved cricketers in the world. Be it his batting performance of calm and collected captaincy, Dhoni always wins the hearts of his fans with his personality. In the ongoing IPL, the Chennai Super Kings star is battling his age and injuries and entertaining the crowd with his brilliant batting cameos. Recently, a wonderful example of his crazy fandom was seen when he made a fan's day by signing his handmade portrait.
In a video that went viral on social media, a fan approached Dhoni with two portraits of the CSK legend in his hand. The beauty of the paintings left Dhoni completely impressed as he applauded the fans and also showed his appreciation by signing the portraits.
The video went viral like wildfire on social media, leaving netizens in awe of Dhoni's simplistic nature.
Talking about IPL, Dhoni surprised everyone when he came at number 9 in the match against Punjab Kings. Seeing Shardul Thakur walking ahead of Dhoni to bat in the match left many fans and pundits stunned.
Former Indian cricketers like Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh also launched a stern attack on the wicketkeeper-batsman over the decision, suggesting that he shouldn't even be part of the team if he wants to bat so low in the order. But it has now been reported that the reason behind Dhoni's delayed arrival is due to injury.
According to a Times of India report, Dhoni has a muscle tear in his leg that prevents him from running on the field for too long. Hence, the veteran cricketer is not keen on joining CSK too early as running between the wickets is a problem for him.
“We are playing virtually with our 'B' team. Those who criticize Dhoni do not know the sacrifice he is making for this team,” the report quoted a source as saying.
The report further said that had Devon Conway, the team's second wicketkeeper-batsman, been available, Dhoni would have at least rested him from a few matches.
