Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that women’s national team head coach David Hemp is not seeking an extension of his two-year contract, which expires in October. As a result, Hemp will leave the women’s team. “I enjoyed living in Pakistan and working with the female cricketers, but it was also difficult for me and my young family because I couldn’t spend enough time with them like any other father. After consulting with my family, I transferred This difficult decision to the Pakistan Cricket Board, which has very graciously understood my situation and accepted my decision,” Hemp said in a statement on Tuesday.
“It has been incredibly enjoyable and fulfilling to work with the girls. While the results in the international arena may not really reflect the hard work and effort that went into the planning and preparations, I am pleased that I gave my very best and the girls responded equally well,” he added.
Hemp said he is delighted with the emergence of Fatima Sana, who won the 2021 ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year award and became the first Pakistani female player to win the ICC Cricketer of the Month award and also showcased her talents in the recently – CWG 2022 shut down in Birmingham.
“I am optimistic that we will see many more young female cricketers from domestic leagues and talent show programs to enter the Pakistani cadre and contribute to the future performance of the teams,” he added.
He thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board, the women’s wing and the team that supported him and made his stay memorable.
“I will continue to be a big fan of Pakistani women’s cricket, I will continue to follow their progress with excitement and remain confident that they will have better results and successes in the future,” he added.
