Ravindra Jadeja drew attention not only for wrecking Australia with his fifer on the opening day of the first test, but also for putting something on his spinning finger, sparking a debate over what it was. A video made way to social media, showing Jadeja receiving something from his teammate Mohammed Siraj and then applying and rubbing it on his left index finger, something Australian media and a former player were interested in. When a fan shared the footage with former Australian captain Tim Paine, he replied “interesting”.

However, a BCCI source told PTI it was a “pain relief ointment for the sore finger.”
David Warner and Steve Smith, who are part of the visiting side, have served suspensions for their roles in South Africa’s 2018 ball foul scandal.
A controversy seemed to arise over a video in which Jadeja appears to be taking something from Mohammed Siraj and applying the substance to his finger. Australian media outlet foxsports.com.au did a report and posted a tweet about it with the caption: “Interesting. A debate has erupted after a vision of a questionable moment was spotted during the first innings of the first Test between Australia and India.”
Vaughan tweeted the report, writing “What’s he doing on his spinning finger? Never seen this #INDvsAUS”
