Former India pacesetter Madan Lal has backed Ravi Shastri’s statement saying that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should throw the conflict of interest rule in the trash. According to the conflict of interest rule, former players cannot perform different roles while performing one job in the administration. “I fully support what Ravi Shastri has said. Two rules made by the Lodha committee, one is the conflict of interest. It must be thrown in the bin. It will bring mediocrity in cricket and those people will be in office who can can be approached easily. Former cricketers should keep the position in the office as they can keep the dignity of the game and the board,” Madan Lal told ANI.
“Second, the age factor that has changed from 60 to 65, I would say the age group should be over 70. Cricketers are fit and can do all the tasks. We need good people for the board, who are not easily approachable And our board always had good people, who not only performed well in the game, but also turned BCCI into a multi-billion dollar industry,” he added.
