Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) earned 6.3 billion rupees in the year 2022, which is the sports body’s highest ever annual net income, according to the national board. “The latest net income growth was mainly generated from four revenue segments, namely international cricket, domestic cricket, sponsorship contracts and annual ICC member disbursements,” the SLC said in a release. It was also announced on Thursday that Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has appointed a 10-member committee to draft a new constitution for SLC.
The panel headed by retired Supreme Court Justice KT Chithrasiri features several legal celebrities and former national cricketers, including Charith Senanayake and Farveez Mahroof.
Ranasinghe said he had sought guidance and expert advice from the ICC for this. The new constitution must be ready within two months.
SLC office-holder elections have always been clouded by controversy, as concerns are raised about excessive voter turnout, leading to allegations of malpractice such as vote-buying to favor vested interests.
