SA vs IND: Wasim Jaffer reacted after KL Rahul scored his seventh Testton in the first Test© Twitter
KL Rahul got India off to a strong start to Day 1 of the ongoing 1st Test of the three-game series against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on Sunday. After regaining his form on the England test tour earlier this year, Rahul started where he left off and hit an unbeaten ton on Boxing Day. His knock from 122 took India to 272 for three at Stumps on Day 1. He also became only the second Indian opener to score a Testton in South Africa, after Wasim Jaffer scored 116 in Cape Town on the 2006/07 tour.
Known for his hilarious social media posts, Jaffer took to Koo and welcomed Rahul to the “exclusive club of Indian openers with a Test hundred in South Africa”.
He shared a hilarious meme from a famous Bollywood movie, captioning it: “Welcome to the exclusive club of Indian openers with a Test hundred in South Africa KL. Very well played.”
After India chose to bat in Centurion, Rahul and Mayank Agarwal got the visitors off to a flying start, adding 117 runs for the first wicket.
The sacking of Agarwal (60) and Cheteshwar Pujara in successive deliveries had put the pressure back on the hosts, but Rahul and skipper Virat Kohli held the ship steady with 82 points for the third wicket.

Lungi Ngidi struck for the third time on the day, sacking Kohli at 35, before Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane took India’s 270-run total at Stumps.
Unfortunately, the game was canceled on Day 2 due to persistent rain and a wet outfield.
