The 2024 T20 World Cup is just around the corner and questions still remain about the best opening partnership for the Indian cricket team. While Rohit Sharma has already been confirmed as the captain of the competition, the position of his opening partner has sparked a lot of debate among fans and experts alike. While Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the top contenders for the position, Virat Kohli has emerged as a surprising choice. The star batsman has been somewhat criticized for his strike rate and few experts felt that using him as an opener could allow him to play his natural game in the league.
When it comes to the ongoing IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill has been in good form and he has scored 304 runs in 9 matches so far. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal had a relatively slow start for Rajasthan Royals but a sensational century against Mumbai Indians came at the right time for him and the young left-handed opener currently has 249 runs in 9 matches.
Before the squad announcement, DailyExpertNews Sports conducted a survey to see what fans think. According to the poll, which was conducted on DailyExpertNews Cricket's WhatsApp channel, fans have chosen Jaiswal as Rohit's ideal partner for the T20 World Cup, with Virat at number 3.

Recently, Gill talked about his chances for the T20 World Cup.
“Last year I played the 50 overs World Cup and it was a dream for me to represent my country in a World Cup. If I can make it to the T20 World Cup this year, it would be nothing short of a dream come true The World Cup experience of last year would help me as we try to win the World Cup,” he said in an interview with Hindustan Times.
