Saurav Kumar, from a small village in the Kashichak block of Nawada district of Bihar, says he never thought he would be the talk of the town because one day he would pass his administrative exams. But shortly after the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) announced the Bihar Board 12th Result 2022, on Wednesday, the son of a carpenter, Saurav started to receive the wishes of all his teachers, family and friends for surpassing the Science stream in Bihar Board.
“I expected good grades for my exams, had envisioned getting to the top 10 in board exams, but when I was told I had surpassed the science stream, I was shocked,” said Saurav, who studied at KLS College in Nawada.
The young topper who achieved 472 points in Science stream and 96.4 percent, says he used that time after the lockdown, when everything was closed, to study for his exams.
While Saurav has led the scientific stream in all of Bihar, Sangam Raj of Arts and Ankit Kumar Commerce also topped the list with 96.4 percent and 94.6 percent respectively. In total, 80.15 percent of the students passed the Bihar Board exam.
The BSEB is the first board to announce the results of this year’s board exams. This year the performance of students in all streams in the board exams has improved. Out of a total of 13,55,749 students who appeared for the Bihar Board Inter exams, as many as 10,62,557 students have passed the Bihar Board 12th exams. The overall success rate is 80.15 percent. An increase compared to last year, when 78.04 percent of students passed the exam, but later due to Covid-19, the board decided to give grades and all students promoted.
Top performers in all three streams – Science, Arts and Commerce – will each receive a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. The second and third rank holders will be paid Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000. The top three holders will also get laptops and a Kindle e-reader.
