The government of Gujarat has allowed Anganwadis, kindergartens and kindergartens to reopen across the state from Thursday, February 17. This decision was taken by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel after assessing the Covid-19 situation in the state, Education Minister Jitu Vaghani said Monday.
“The Prime Minister has given the green light for the reopening of kindergartens, kindergartens and Anganwadis in Gujarat from February 17. They remained closed for almost two years,” said Vaghani. Students must carry parental consent to send their wards to preschools, kindergartens and Anganwadis.

As the pandemic situation has now improved, the state government had allowed schools for grades 1 to 9 and colleges to resume offline classes from last week, but kindergartens and Anganwadis remained closed given the safety of toddlers. “This is the first time in the last two years of the pandemic when kindergartens and Anganwadis are reopened,” Vaghani told reporters in Gandhinagar.
All educational institutions have been asked to stop teaching on-campus classes from March 2020 due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown across the country. “From February 17, Anganwadis and Kindergartens can start providing education in their premises by following the previously issued SOPs. Officials conducting Anganwadi operations and owners of pre-school classes should make necessary arrangements to restart education,” he added.

The minister said toddlers have suffered a significant loss of education due to the closure of kindergartens in the past two years due to the pandemic. “The state government is preparing an action plan to overcome this problem of learning loss in children as they will gain admission in standard 1 without getting pre-school education,” the minister said.
