The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has developed a mobile app to help schools prepare a School Disaster Management Plan.

To encourage participation and excellence in SDMP preparation, the best school will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, the next three best entries will receive Rs 50,000 each and the other six best entries will receive Rs 30,000 each.
The SDMP prepared up to September 30 will only be eligible for the awards to be presented on October 12.

The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) would also celebrate International Disaster Risk Reduction Day under the banner of Samarth – a demand-driven and placement-oriented umbrella skilling program of the central government.
The 13th edition of Samarth will be organized from October 1 to 15 along with state-level exhibitions and workshops, street play, memory walk and various district-level competitions, the statement said.
A ‘gram sabha’ will be held on October 2 to tackle the monsoon-related disasters and promote safe construction practices that can withstand hazards such as landslides, earthquakes and fires.
