The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) has launched an e-Masters course in renewable energy and e-mobility. The course is designed to build a capable and highly qualified workforce who can work towards environmental responsibility. The course is executive-friendly and does not require a GATE score to apply. It can be pursued without interrupting professional careers within one to three years.
“The e-Masters program in Renewable Energy and e-Mobility will help unlock the opportunities as the world accelerates its transition from fossil fuels, cuts carbon emissions and fights climate change. The program presents a transformative journey towards innovative and eco-friendly solutions,” the IIT said. It was introduced by the Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
The online program aims to guide professionals on various technological aspects of this shift, including generation-side sources such as photovoltaics, wind energy, batteries, hydrogen and the very fast-growing field of electric vehicles. These twin forces of renewable energy and e-mobility jointly drive innovation, reduce dependence on non-renewable resources and promote a greener, more resilient world, taking into account environmental and economic imperatives.
The e-Masters course will start in January 2024. Unlike many other diploma or professional courses, the e-Masters course at IIT Kanpur confers formal, Senate-approved degrees, which are conferred at convocation ceremonies, the institute added.
The program includes live interactive weekend classes and self-paced learning. It contains a 60-credit curriculum and allows seamless credit transfers to higher education options such as MTech and PhD programs at IIT Kanpur, with the option to waive up to 60 credits.
Students also get access to IIT Kanpur’s incubation cell and alum network, which helps in their career development and networking prospects. As part of the immersive learning journey, participants will have the opportunity to visit the IIT Kanpur campus, where they can interact with the faculty and professionals, and ultimately earn the status of IIT Kanpur alumni.
