Four winning candidates are diploma holders and 2 winning candidates are illiterate.
More than half of the candidates who emerged victorious in the December 4 elections for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the results of which were announced on Wednesday, are women. Also, more than 50 percent of the winning candidates in the MCD polls have not graduated as they have stated that their educational qualification is between 5th and 12th standard.
According to a report by ADR, of the 248 winning candidates analyzed, 132 (53 percent) winning candidates are female and one AAP transgender candidate (Bobby) won from Sultanpuri-A ward.
In the MCD polls conducted in 2017, out of 266 councillors, 139 (52 per cent) were women.
The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Delhi Election Watch have analyzed the self-sworn statements of 248 of the 250 winning candidates in the 2022 MCD elections.
Two winning candidates were not analyzed as their clear and complete affidavits were not available on the SEC Delhi website at the time of preparing this report.
On the educational background of winning candidates in the MCD polls, the report said that 126 (51 per cent) winning candidates stated their educational qualification was between 5th and 12th pass, while 116 (47 per cent) winning candidates declared an educational qualification of graduate and above.
In terms of age data of winning candidates, the report said that 84 (34 percent) winning candidates stated their age was between 21 and 40, while 164 (66 percent) winning candidates stated their age was between 41 and 70. .
