The decision to continue online education in schools for grades 1 to 9 was taken by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at a core committee meeting in Gandhinagar, an official release said.

The government of Gujarat said on Monday that online lectures will continue for the students of classes 1 to 9 to 5 February, taking into account the current COVID-19 scenario. The decision to continue online education in schools for grades 1 to 9 was taken by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at a core committee meeting in Gandhinagar, an official release said.
The decision to continue online classes for students from grades 1 to 9 until February 5 was taken in the greater interest of students and their health, the government said. Following a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in the state, the government had decided on Jan. 7 not to allow in-person classes in schools for grades 1 through 9 until Jan. 31.
A new decision on offline education will be made on Feb. 5, the release Gujarat added on Monday registered 6,679 COVID-19 cases, the lowest since Jan. 10, bringing the number in the state to 11,60,659, according to the state health department.
