Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made a big announcement on Monday for the youths preparing for the posts of police officers. Speaking at the Vidhan Sabha, Chouhan said there will be a massive police recruitment drive in the coming months, adding that the physical efficiency will carry a weight of 50%.
The government has also decided to bear the interest charges on farmers’ loans, the prime minister said. Prime Minister Chouhan spoke in response to a discussion on the motion of gratitude presented during the governor’s speech on March 7.
During his two-hour response, he said, amid a commotion from opposition members, that there will also be a physical test for the candidates, and the sophisticated equipment will ensure there is no manipulation in the process. The physical test determines 50% of your grade (PET). The prime minister described the plans of the state government in his speech and made numerous announcements.
Referring to the previous Congress administration’s loan forgiveness scheme, Chouhan alleged that farmers were being abused, resulting in them becoming defaulters. Farmers, who have failed to pay off their loans, are burdened by the interest on loans, he said, adding that the state government will now bear it.
Following the Chief Minister’s speech, the motion of gratitude was passed by the Speaker of the Assembly, Girish Gautam.
This motion was filed on March 7. This was followed by a four-and-a-half-hour debate in the House of Representatives on several days, attended by members of the ruling BJP and the main opposition congress. Speaker Gautam suspended the House’s operations until 11 a.m. March 15 after the vote of thanks was passed.
