The Government of Delhi’s Specialized School of Excellence will now be known as BR Ambedkar School of Specialized Excellence, Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday. Kejriwal said this at an event to launch such a school on the occasion of Ambedkar’s birthday.
“Baba Saheb Amdebkar put maximum emphasis on education and what better way to pay him tribute than to name the best of our schools after him,” Kejriwal said. The decision to rename the schools was taken by the government at a meeting of the state naming authority held on Tuesday. There are 31 SoSEs in the city, 30 of which will be renamed Dr. BR Ambedkar, while the Armed Forces Preparatory School is already named after the revolutionary Bhagat Singh.
