The government of West Bengal is working on a theory to find out whether Subhash Chandra Bose was India’s first prime minister during his exile. TMC Secretary General Kunal Ghosh tweeted when he tagged Education Minister Bratyo Basu that Netaji was India’s first Prime Minister.
He added that the syllabus committee has been set up to examine in detail the issues related to his government and cabinet. Upon completion, the committee will include these details in the school’s syllabus.
Speaking to reporters, Bratyo Basu said: “Netaji led the government in exile and Netaji was India’s first prime minister. The education department is in the process of formulating a curriculum based on this and incorporating it into school education.”

A petition has also been filed with the Calcutta Supreme Court demanding that the state’s Netaji tableau be included during the January 26 parade in Delhi.
Recently Prime Minister Modi unveiled a hologram image of Bose at India Gate. Mamata believes the statue was erected at India Gate after being pressured. If Netaji gets more space in government schools, there could be a competition between union and state, academics believe.
