Police departments are getting extremely creative with their social posts. Whether it’s the witty social media handle of the Mumbai Police or the way the Bengaluru Police are spreading awareness through trending reels, internet users love the transition to the new-age public service announcements.
On the occasion of Holi, Uttar Pradesh Police and Mumbai Police emphasized the importance of “consent” through their social media posts.
On Instagram, Uttar Pradesh Police shared a post that read: “Balam pichkari jo ‘without permission’ mujhe maari, toh 1090 pe calling ho gayi.” They wrote in the caption, “Wishing everyone a happy #Holi! Remember permission is key to keeping the festival alive. If you experience harassment or assault, please call #112 for police assistance,” along with the hashtag # HoliAbout Hooliganism.
Since the post was shared, it has garnered over two thousand likes.
“UP police didn’t get the chills,” said one user.
“Consent is the perfect thing,” said a second user.
A third person said “Creativity Level” along with three fire emojis.
In the same vein, the Mumbai Police shared a thought-provoking post about permission. They ran an ad with a black background stating “Consent is sacred”. They wrote in the caption, “Color with permission for #HolyHai! Have a happy and safe Holi, Mumbai.”
“Mumbai police are brilliant,” said one person.
“Great!!” noted a second user.

Many people have also added heart and fire emojis in the comment section.
