According to Sunsafari.com, Lake Bogoria turns pink in August-October due to the flamingo population.
Lake Bogoria has hot springs and geysers on its western shore, which are caused by geothermal activity, the website said. If you want to see these flamingos, the best time to visit this area is between August and October.
Flamingos belong to the Phoenicopteridae family. They are known for their bright pink feathers, slit-like legs and S-shaped necks. According to National Geographic, the bird usually indulges in shrimp, snails and plant-like aquatic organisms called algae. Did you know that their webbed feet allow them to “run” on water, gaining speed before taking to the air?
