Bengaluru, once known for its pleasant weather, is now facing a serious water crisis and an unusually hot summer. Previously, city residents who only needed a fan to cool down are now trying to buy coolers and air conditioners to beat the heat. Amid this, a woman went to
Investor and equity researcher Prerana Nireeksha Amanna, who has lived in the city for more than two decades, said she never “thought she would ever need an AC.”
''In my 20 years in Bangalore, I never thought we would need an air conditioner. Say something about this city sooner and people would defend it with the pleasant weather. Bangaloreans can no longer play the 'weather card'. What exactly is this heat? It's like staying in Rajasthan. Every year the summer is heavier than the year before. The heat is unbearable,” Ms Amanna wrote on X while sharing a photo of an air conditioner installed in her bedroom.

Many other Bangaloreans related to her post and shared similar concerns. One user wrote: ''I bought this air cooler in Bangalore in 2016 because my room was facing the sun, but I never used it after the summer of 2016-2017. I have now turned it ON for the first time after 8 years!!! AC will be needed soon I believe!!!”
Another commented: ''Bangalore was heaven in the 1970s but it has now been 'developed' into hell.''
A third said: 'Yes, average global temperatures have risen by almost 1*C over the past four decades and 2023 was the hottest year on record since global temperatures were recorded from 1850. Probably a result of global warming.”
A fourth wrote: 'In 1952, when my father was training to be an air force pilot in Bangalore, it was known in India as the city without a ceiling fan. You can still see old houses with low ceilings! In 70 years we got to Air Con!'' A fifth added: ''Karma is hunting us for plaguing hot cities.''
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) report, the warm and dry weather is likely to continue till May 5.
