A software engineer caused a stir on LinkedIn with a light-hearted post in which he “recruited” a “younger woman.” The post quickly attracted attention and caused a wave of comments, with some finding it humorous and others offensive.
Jitendra Singh wrote in his post, “Urgent recruitment! I am looking for a 'junior woman' to join my life. Please note: do not apply for experienced candidates (females). I will conduct separate recruitment for experienced candidates. Job Type : Rest of life. Career level: Entry level (Only zero experience preferred). Salary: Confidential. There will be three rounds of interviews. Final round: Face-to-face.”
He further explained the “requirements” for this position. He said the person should have “at least two years of cooking experience, the ability to wake up at night and make spicy biryani, have good communication skills, be respectable and decent, obedient and loving, and goal-oriented”
As a disclaimer, Mr Singh said the post was intended as a “funny post” and only to “make people laugh”.
Mr Singh's post attracted a lot of attention, with most people criticizing him for making jokes on a professional platform like LinkedIn.
One user commented: “What kind of post is this and how can LinkedIn allow this nonsense on a professional platform? This isn't Instagram or Facebook.”
Another user commented: “Be realistic. Besides being so outdated (100 years?), a post like this will be detrimental to your job search. Attitudes like this in your workplace could get you fired or you become the subject of a POSH complaint. Anyone who wonders why I don't just find it funny, the reason is simple: it's not.”
A third user claimed, “I came here from the meme pages. Man they are making fun of Indians because of your post. Please delete it.”
The fourth user commented: “Why not post these pick-up lines on Tinder, Bumble, Hinge or Shaadi.com?”
However, people also wrote 'interested' in the comment section of the post.
