The 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival began across India on Tuesday
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated across the country with immense enthusiasm and fervor in honor of Lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. The 10-day festival started across India on Tuesday with several photos and videos showing idols of Lord Ganesh being installed in homes and pandals. One of the most sought-after themes this year is Chandrayaan-3, India’s successful mission to the moon.
In Chennai, a special pandal has been set up in Kilkattalai, inspired by ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 Moon mission, enchanting space enthusiasts. A video that has surfaced on social media shows a model of a Chandrayaan-3 rocket placed next to the idol of Lord Ganesha. The miniature model even takes off, emitting flames and smoke, resembling a rocket launch.

Internet users loved the creative idea and appreciated the designer. Commenting on the video, a user wrote, ‘ISRO closes space tech shutdown for all Indian households. This is phenomenal and will inspire many young minds. And that’s encouraging, because you never know that a small idea can make a huge change. More power to #ISRO.”
Another commented: ‘ISRO reaches new heights.’ A third added: ‘I knew there would be these Ganesh Chaturthi rockets but I expected them to be simple imitations. These are impressive.’
Not just Chennai, several other cities in the country have also incorporated the theme of space in their celebrations and set up pandals around the successful Indian moon mission.
Ganesh Chaturthi is marked with the installation of Ganesh’s clay idols in homes and public places. The 10-day festival ends when the idol is carried in a public procession and immersed (visarjan) in a sea river on the day of Anant Chaturdashi.
