There are a number of Ganesha temples in India. But now a video of a small shrine atop a hill in the middle of a dense forest is gaining popularity on social media.
User aadi_thakur 750 took to Instagram and shared a stunning video showing a Ganesha temple atop Dholkal Hill in Chhattisgarh. “Live Ganesha Aarti,” the user wrote in the post’s caption.
Watch the video below:
The Ganesha Shrine is located at an elevation of 300 feet above sea level. It is believed to be 1000 years old. The sanctuary overlooks the dense forest of the iron-rich Bailadila Mountains.
The Instagram user shared the video last month and it has since garnered more than 452,000 likes and over two million views. In the comments section of the post, while some internet users called the video “awesome,” others jokingly wrote, “My clumsy legs would have slipped with all the water on that tiny surface.”

One user said: “The pujari ji has too much guts ayooo if I was with him my legs would shiver to even stand there…(God will take good care of him I guess)” Another added: ” This place was discovered one hundred years ago. It is called Dholkal Ganesh. It can be reached after walking about 40 minutes.”
Several users also flooded the comments section with folded hands and heart emojis.
Meanwhile, according to MOT, it is believed that the Ganesha idol was made in the time of the Nagvanshi dynasty in the 9th or 10th century on a ‘dhol’ shaped mountain range. The mountain range is 14 km deep in the forest from Faraspal police station in the district. One has to reach the place on foot through a forest route as there is no road available there.
