The much-awaited Indian Premier League kicked off on March 22 and cricket fans across the country are glued to their television screens. Many people also book stadium tickets for the excitement and in the hope of seeing their favorite cricketer. However, some cricket fans, who are away from the country due to studies or other reasons, have different ways of showing admiration for their favorite IPL team. Recently, an Indian woman, who is a big fan of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, unfurled the team's flag during his graduation ceremony in the United States.
“@royalchallengers.bengaluru is a team that has taught us fans much more than just cricket. '15 years strong and still standing by my team's side, true loyalty knows no defeat!' Just a junior continuing the ritual started by her senior @theruthviksankar, I hope my juniors would do the same,” reads the caption of the now viral clip, shared by Instagram user Likhitha. In the clip, a man is seen walking onto the stage and receiving his diploma from University of Michigan officials. A few seconds later, he takes out the flag of the Bengaluru-based cricket franchise and displays it for everyone. In the same video, Likhitha can be seen flaunting the IPL team jersey while receiving her diploma during the graduation ceremony.
Since the clip was shared six days ago, it has been viewed more than four million times and liked four times. However, the post received mixed reactions from netizens.
“You are Royal Queen,” someone said.
A second said: “Goosebumps”
“US Ambassador to RCB,” another user added.
“Man, these foreign professors are so cold…our Indian professors would have only scolded them on stage,” said an Instagram user.
“Don't lose the opportunities by doing these stupid activities that are not necessary. It's an educational ceremony, not the person celebrating,” said one user.
Another added: 'Dedicating one of the most important and expensive ceremonies of your life to someone who doesn't know you exist is wild. But it's your life anyway.'
“I don't understand what's going on with the people here? If someone wants to show their love for their favorite sport or sports team, what's the problem?” added a user.
