Amid the ongoing farmers' protest in Delhi, Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda on Tuesday appealed to the farmers and farmer organizations involved in the protest to maintain peace.
“I would like to appeal to the farmers and farmers' organizations involved in this (protest) to maintain peace. We must move the process from discussion to solutions. We must continue to discuss this issue. We all want peace, and we must work together to find a solution to this problem,” he said.
“We tried to discuss the government's side and various proposals were also discussed. We have come to know that they (farmers) are not satisfied with the proposals but this discussion must continue and we must find a solution through peaceful means,” the Union Minister added.
Referring to the farmers' rejection of the government's proposal on MSP, Mr. Munda said they welcome good views.
“We want to do good and different opinions can be given for this, because we are always happy to hear good opinions. But to find a way in which that opinion will be fruitful, the only way is a conversation. A solution will certainly be found through conversation. out,” he said.
After the Center made a proposal to buy crops at minimum support price (MSP), farmers rejected the proposal on Monday evening saying it was of no use to them.
Meanwhile, ahead of the farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' march scheduled on February 21, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher targeted the Center and said the government is preventing farmers from entering Delhi and farmers should hold their march on Wednesday can keep.
“The government's intention was very clear that they would not let us enter Delhi at any cost. If you don't want to find a solution through discussion with farmers, then we should be able to march to Delhi. we moved towards Delhi, shelling took place… Bullets were also used on the tires of the tractors…DGP Haryana has said that they will not use tear gas against farmers… We demand punishment for those who used it then. .. Addressing a press conference, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that after the discussion, the forums had rejected the proposal on MSP.
“After the discussion at both forums, it was decided that, if you analyze, there is nothing in the government's proposal. Our government imports palm oil worth Rs 1.75 crore from outside which is also causing illness among the general public. If this money is given to the farmers of the country to grow oilseeds and MSP is announced then that money can be used here. This is not to the advantage of the farmers. We reject it,” he said.
“If the government does not provide legal guarantee for MSP, it means the farmers of the country will continue to be looted. This is not acceptable,” he added.
After the fourth round of talks, Sarvan Singh Pandher, General Secretary of the Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, asserted that the farmers will continue with the 'Delhi Chalo' march on February 21, adding that the discussion will also take place on the proposal of the government. the government about MSP.
Now, the farmers will continue their 'Dilli Chalo' march on February 21.
The agitating farmers from Punjab have raised several demands, including an ordinance on ensuring legal guarantees for MSPs and loan waivers.
The two sides – ministers and farmer leaders – had earlier met on February 8, 12 and 15, but the talks remained inconclusive.
