Nuh:
Police today said they have detained more than 500 people for blocking the Nuh-Alwar highway during a protest to demand the arrest of those responsible for the kidnapping and murder of two Rajasthan Muslim men whose bodies were found in Haryana’s Bhiwani.
The FIR is registered at the Ferozpur Jhirka police station, they said.
Hundreds came here on Nuh-Alwar highway in Firozpur Jhirka on Friday demanding the arrest of the killers of two Muslim men from Rajasthan.
The protest led to a massive congestion on the highway for about an hour, but police managed to get the situation under control and cleared the road.
“We have registered an FIR against 500 to 600 protesters. We will identify the suspects and action will be taken according to the law,” a senior police officer said.
Nasir and Junaid, both residents of Ghatmeeka village in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, were reportedly abducted by cow vigilantes on February 15 and their bodies were found the next day in a charred car in Loharu in Haryana’s Bhiwani.
The relatives of the deceased have named five men allegedly associated with the right-wing group Bajrang Dal in their complaint to the police.
