New Delhi:
The results of the elections in seven constituencies in six states will be announced today. While the results are likely to upset the math for current state governments, the matches are seen as a battle for family heritage in Haryana and prestige battles in Telangana, Bihar and Maharashtra.
With regional parties forming a united front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections – just a year and a half away – the poll’s results could serve as booster shots or perception busters, depending on the results
The main polls were held on Nov. 3 at Admapur in Hryana, Gopalganj (Bihar), Andheri (East) of Maharashtra, Munugode (Telangana), Gola Gokarannath (Uttar Pradesh) and Dhamnagar of Odisha.
The fierce battle is between the Bharatiya Janata Party and regional parties such as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Elections 2022: Elections in Adampur witnessed a 75% turnout
Admapur, the family seat of former Haryana Prime Minister Bhajan Lal, will decide whether his grandson Bhavya Bishnoi can continue the 68-year legacy after switching from Congress to the BJP. Bhavya’s father Kuldeep Bishnoi, who led the family to the BJP, resigned as Adampur MLA when he defected, leading to this bypoll. More than 75 percent of voters exercised their rights in the elections. Counting is done in 13 rounds.
In Gopalganj, the RJD hopes to oust the BJP that has held her for nearly two decades now. It has pitted older party mohan Prasad Gupta against Kusum Devi of the BJP, whose husband Subhas Singh necessitated the election.
Bihar is seeing the first match – on two seats – since Nitish Kumar ditched the BJP and teamed up with Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD. In Mokama, RJD’s candidate was Neelam Devi, wife of Anant Singh, a strong politician who was disqualified after being convicted of illegally possessing weapons.
2022 Election Results: Of the seven seats that witnessed an uphill battle between the BJP and the regional parties, the BJP had three and the Congress had two, while the Shiv Sena and the RJD had one each.
The counting starts at 8 am and the results are usually expected around noon.
