Gurugram:
The Gurgaon district administration has come up with a unique initiative to increase voter turnout in the May 25 Lok Sabha elections in Gurgaon parliamentary constituency, with officials announcing discounts on movie tickets and food items at cinemas, apart from free refreshments.
A one-phase voting will take place in all ten Lok Sabha seats in Haryana on May 25.
An official said on Wednesday that all one has to do is show off his/her inked finger on election day to get discounts on offline tickets available at the ticket counter or food and beverages available at the cinema hall.
In this regard, a meeting of representatives of various multiplex chains was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Hitesh Kumar Meena, ADC, and nodal officer for Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, Gurugram.
“The voters will also be given free refreshments in some cinemas,” Meena told the media.
He said all multiplexes would telecast the message of District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav and short films on voter awareness on the screens.
Recently, the Gurugam district administration appointed Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal as its 'brand ambassador' to increase voter turnout in the elections.
