patna:
An example of communal harmony in the country, a Muslim family in Bihar has donated land worth Rs.2.5 crore for the construction of the world’s largest Hindu temple – Virat Ramayan Mandir – in the Kaithwalia area of East Champaran district of the state .
Acharya Kishore Kunal, head of the Patna-based Mahavir Mandir Trust, which has implemented the project, spoke to reporters on Monday and said Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khan, who donated the land, is a businessman from East Champaran, based in Guwahati.
“He has recently completed all the formalities related to the donation of land belonging to his family for the construction of the temple to the Registry of the Kesharia Subdivision (East Chanmparan),” Kunal, a former Indian police officer, told reporters.
The Acharya said this donation by Mr Khan and his family is a great example of social harmony and brotherhood between two communities. Without the help of Muslims, it would have been difficult to realize this dream project, he added.
The Mahavir Mandir Trust has so far obtained 125 acres of land for the construction of this temple. The trust will soon also acquire another 25 hectares of land in the area.
The Virat Ramayan Mandir is planned to be taller than Cambodia’s world-famous 12th-century Angkor Wat complex, which stands 215 feet in height. The complex in East Champaran will consist of 18 temples with high spires and the Shiv Temple will have the largest Shivling in the world.
The total construction cost is estimated to be around Rs. 500 crores. The trust will soon seek advice from the experts involved in the construction of a new parliament building in New Delhi.
