The Congress on Monday said it will not comment on advisors' comments after poll strategist Prashant Kishor said the party is facing structural shortcomings and Rahul Gandhi should consider stepping back if the party fails to achieve desired results in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
In an interaction with PTI editors, Prashant Kishor said that Rahul Gandhi, for all practical purposes, is leading the Congress and has not been able to step aside or let anyone else steer the party despite his inability to lead in the last ten year to achieve results.
“I think this is also anti-democratic,” said Prashant Kishor, who had prepared a revival plan for the opposition party but walked out due to differences between him and its leadership over the implementation of his strategy.
Asked about Prashant Kishor's comments, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, “I don't answer comments made by advisors. Talking about political people, what is there to answer about advisors?”
The top strategist, who has been associated with successful poll campaigns of several major political parties, also stressed that the country's main opposition party suffers from “structural” deficiencies in its functioning and that addressing them is essential to its success.
