Kota:
A 23-year-old rape accused on bail was arrested in Kota on Saturday after kidnapping the survivor’s minor brother to blackmail the family into withdrawing the case against him, police said.
They said the man was arrested in Bundi within just four hours and the boy, a 7th grade student, was rescued.
Police said the boy was abducted by Ronak Dhobi when he went to a market in Tathed village under Kota’s Kaithun Police Station on Saturday morning.
They said Dhobi had informed the boy’s relatives that he had their son in his care and would only let him go if they dropped the rape case against him.
Dhobi was arrested more than a year ago for allegedly raping the boy’s older sister and was released on bail, police said.
Kaithun SHO Mahendra Maru said the family filed a report around 1:00 PM and police have traced the suspect’s location to Bundi city.
A team from the police station rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect around 5 p.m. with the help of local police, the SHO said.
Dhobi was booked under IPC Sections 363, 364 and 365 and an investigation into the matter was launched, he said.
Four other cases, including those of rape, attempted murder and under the gun law, are pending in court, Maru said.
