Amroha, OP:
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called out Pakistan at a political rally on Friday, saying that while those in the neighboring country are fighting hunger, “80 crore people in India are getting free ration”.
Addressing a poll rally in western Uttar Pradesh's Amroha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader also said the saffron party's 'phir ek baar Modi sarkar' slogan is resonating across the country.
Mr Adityanath was speaking before Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the rally organized in support of Kanwar Singh Tanwar, the BJP candidate from Amroha constituency in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.
“Pakistan, which has a population of barely 23 to 24 crore, was formed after partition in 1947 and is starving today. This is also an example – on one side there is Pakistan, and on the other side there is the promise of free ration to over 80 crore people,” the Prime Minister said.
The BJP in its Lok Sabha poll manifesto has promised to continue providing free ration to over 80 crore people in the country over the next five years.
Mr. Adityanath said, “Only one slogan is being heard from all sides: phir ek baar Modi sarkar”.
He welcomed Modi to Amroha and praised him for bringing transformative changes in the country.
Mr. Adityanath addressed the gathering as elections were underway in eight western constituencies of Uttar Pradesh in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls. Amroha will go to the polls in the second phase on April 26.
Tanwar won the Amroha seat in 2014 but was defeated in 2019 by Denmark's Ali, who was then a member of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Ali is once again in the fray from Amroha on a Congress ticket.
