Jaipur:
The Rajasthan unit of Congress on Wednesday lashed out at the BJP-led central government asking why it has not enacted a law to prevent the leaking of exam questions from the government.
Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) president Govind Singh Dotasra said that the Congress government in Rajasthan has introduced a law to stop incidents of paper leaks and has taken strict measures in such cases.
Government employees involved in leaks have also been fired under the law, he said.
The government of Rajasthan passed a law last year to curb paper leaks with provisions of imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine of Rs 10 crore for offenses related to recruitment exams.
Speaking to reporters at the party’s state headquarters, Mr Dotasra said, “Had they (BJP) introduced such a law, this situation would not have happened today. Paper leaking gangs are active all over India. A document has been leaked in Punjab a month ago. Similar cases have also been reported in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh”.
“We don’t know how many papers have been leaked in the railways under the administration of the central government. Now the central government does not advertise new jobs nor come up with strict laws to prevent such incidents,” the congress leader said.
“Is the Modi government only at the center of contesting elections?” he asked.
Mr Dotasra said that the charges against the Congress government by the BJP, which have made it a key issue, are baseless as Rajasthan is the only state with an anti-leak law.
“No chief minister in any other state of the country has taken the swift action that the current Congress government in Rajasthan has taken after the paper leak incidents,” he said.
Rajasthan will go to the polls at the end of this year.
