Ahmedabad:
Three persons have been arrested for allegedly flying a camera-mounted drone near a meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bavla village of Ahmedabad district, police said.
Prime Minister Modi addressed a rally in the village on Thursday as part of BJP’s campaign for the Gujarat Assembly polls.
Flying drones near the site was prohibited by the district collector for safety reasons.
Before the rally, police saw some individuals using a remote-controlled drone to capture the crowd’s footage, said Inspector Bharat Patel, a local police official.
“These three local men captured images of the crowd for their personal purpose. We arrested them and booked them under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (in violation of official orders),” he said.
Elections for the 182-member Gujarat Assembly will be held in two phases – on December 1 and 5, with vote counting to begin on December 5.
