Showing her innovative ability to communicate with people, the chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee made ‘pani puris’ at a roadside stall in Darjeeling on Tuesday, serving the lip-smacking snack to children and tourists visiting the hill. .
In a video that went viral on social media, the Trinamool Congress supremo was seen filling the crispy hollow puris with mashed potatoes and serving them to people after dipping them in tamarind water.
She showed her expertise in making ‘phuchka’, as pani puri is called in West Bengal, during a visit to a stall of women from a Self Help Group (SHG) in the ‘queen of the hills’.
The TMC shared the video and tweeted: “Our Honorable Chairman @MamataOfficial visited SHG-operated food stall, Sunday Haat in Darjeeling. To show her appreciation for the women’s hard work, she joined them in preparing the favorite van Bengalen, Puchkas and fed enthusiastic children the delicious snack!” One of the tourists, Banerjee asked the stall holder to serve him a “phuchka as a guest”.
