Personal well-being, as well as social and mental health, depend on good personal cleanliness.
Let’s take a look at some of the hygiene practices we need to continue in 2023 as we count down the days until the New Year
Health and hygiene are closely intertwined. Personal hygiene is important for personal well-being and social and mental health. Maintaining good hygiene not only protects you from illness but also protects those around you. By simply practicing good personal hygiene, you can protect yourself from all the germs that cause serious illness. For a long time we had ignored personal hygiene, but the pandemic reinforced the need to follow a good routine. As we count down the days to welcome in the new year, let’s recap some of the hygiene routines we need to implement in 2023.
- Hand hygiene became extremely crucial since the pandemic disrupted our lives. What started as a mandatory precaution has become a part of our daily lives these days. It’s not like we’ve never washed our hands before, but during the pandemic the frequency increased. There’s no denying that hand washing also keeps a lot of other germs at bay. Pandemic or not, this is good hygiene practice to follow.
- Another good habit that we have incorporated into our daily lives is regular exercise. Yoga or any other form of exercise helps build our immunity and strength. In addition, we have made it a point to follow a good diet. Keeping fit and healthy helps a lot to fight off any kind of infection.
- Maintaining our oral hygiene also became important. Brushing your teeth regularly is an essential step for personal hygiene. It reduces the build-up of bacteria in your mouth, which cause tooth decay and gum disease. Brushing your teeth twice a day is ideal. Healthy gums contribute to that radiant smile on your face.
- Binge-watching or staying up late to work has caused several problems with our sleep cycle. With an increasingly work-from-home culture, people understood the importance of a good night’s sleep. Getting a full night’s sleep is critical to overall health and happiness. This can be achieved by maintaining a regular sleep schedule. Sleep hygiene is a series of daily tasks. Your body and mind are busy repairing cells, energy and tissue while you sleep. Sleep deprivation can make you feel drowsy. There is a lot of talk about insomnia these days and following a good sleep schedule has become crucial.
