There are right and wrong ways to use a facial cleanser, just like anything else in skin care
Using a facial cleanser to remove dirt, impurities and excess oil from our face is one of the most basic steps in any skin care routine. Like everything else in skin care, there is a right way and a wrong way to use a facial cleanser. There are some common mistakes that many make when cleaning their skin. This may be related to the amount of face wash used or the time it takes to rinse it off. it’s important to consult an expert who can give you tips on the dos and don’ts to maintain glowing skin.
Dermatologist Aanchal Panth shared some tips on how to cleanse the face and avoid mistakes while using a skin product.
Apply face wash to dry skin
Always wet your face before applying the cleanser. The dermatologist said this ensures that the cleanser is spread evenly throughout the night and not just concentrated where you first applied it.
Using too much or too little amount
Excessive or insufficient use of a product can be dangerous for the skin. While explaining the reason, Dr Aanchal Panth said, “A small amount is enough.” She adds that you don’t need too much face wash as it can dry out the skin and is also hard on the wallet.
Wash it off too quickly
People with oily skin face the problem of pimples and sticky face. To avoid these, do not wash your face immediately after applying a facial cleanser. The expert suggested that people with oily skin should use a salicylic acid based facial. The trick is to let the face wash work for 2 minutes.
Rub vigorously with a towel
Use a soft towel and soak up the excess water as it does not damage the skin compared to hard towels. It is not necessary to rub the skin, let it be slightly damp. This prepares the skin for the moisturizer that comes next.
Don’t apply a moisturizer right away
Applying a moisturizer is an important step in the skin routine. Moisture can keep your skin moist. The dermatologist advised people applying retinol or salicylic acid-based face wash to wait for the water to dry.
