The number of political parties under the INDIA bloc is increasing and so is their morale, AICC spokesman Pawan Khera said on Wednesday.
As many as 63 representatives from 28 political parties will attend the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) meeting on August 31 and September 1 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai.
“You will know that in the next two days the number of parties, confidence and morale (of the opposition alliance) will rise. At the same time, there is fear in the camp led by Narendra Modi,” said Khera.
While speaking to the Mumbai media about whether Akali Dal and BSP would join the opposition camp, the Congress leader said that the number of constituent parties (under INDIA bloc) has risen from 26 to 28 and that in more names will follow in the coming days. will come.
“Many others who are now in the NDA will join the INDIA alliance,” said Khera.
The opposition alliance has expanded its scope to 28 parties by including two regional groups: the Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWP), a Marxist political party in Maharashtra, and another regional group.
Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday, NCP leader Sharad Pawar said he is confident the opposition alliance will provide a formidable alternative to bring about political change in the country.
There has been no discussion of seat sharing within the INDIA alliance, he added.
According to a report by PTI, at the meeting in Mumbai, the INDIA alliance is expected to announce a coordination committee, which could include 11 members from the main opposition parties, and unveil a logo for the bloc.
The opposition alliance is also likely to hold discussions on whether or not there should be a convenor and whether there will be sub-groups dealing with seat sharing, joint agitation programmes, communication strategies and the definition of the joint minimum programme, it said. the report.
