Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on Saturday to begin construction of an international cricket stadium in his constituency. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the visit and considered it an important event in the history of Kashi, and shared details of Modi’s agenda for the trip.
“Tomorrow, another golden chapter will be added to the journey of Baba Shri Vishwanath ji’s holy city of Kashi. Respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji will lay the foundation stone of the ‘International Cricket Stadium’, which will cost approx ₹451 crores in Varanasi tomorrow,” Adityanath had said in a post on X.

At around 1:30 PM, Modi will inaugurate the construction of the stadium, which is expected to have a budget of ₹451 crores. Covering a vast area of 30 hectares at Ganjari in Varanasi, this state-of-the-art sports facility is part of the vision to set up a contemporary, world-class sports infrastructure.
The architectural design of the stadium will draw inspiration from Lord Shiva. It will feature elements such as spotlights in the shape of tridents, roofing with crescent-shaped covers, seating arrangements resembling steps from ghats, and metal plates on the facade in the shape of Bilvipatra leaves.

The government of Uttar Pradesh has announced that they have been awarded ₹121 crore for the land acquisition required for this project. The construction of the stadium, which will seat 30,000 spectators, will be funded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at a cost of ₹330 crores.
The ceremony is expected to be graced by renowned cricket figures like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and other notable personalities. .over, key BCCI officials including President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajiv Shukla and Secretary Jay Shah are expected to be present.
The spectator seating area in the stadium will be designed to mimic the distinctive steps seen at the ghats in Varanasi. The stadium, located in Rajatalab locality near the Ring Road, is expected to be ready and operational by December 2025.
