The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday summoned Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot. The probe agency also raided the premises of Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra.
In poll-bound Rajasthan, the probe agency’s raids in Jaipur and Sikar as part of a money laundering probe into the alleged leaking exam papers appear to have increased pressure on the incumbent Congress government ahead of the crucial Rajsthan assembly elections .
Attacking the rival opposition in Rajasthan, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said raids by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are taking place wherever elections are held. The Rajasthan CM also added that the raids are taking place in poll-dependent states, be it Chhattisgarh, Karnataka or Himachal Pradesh.
Taking to microblogging site ‘X’, the Rajasthan CM said, “Date 25/10/23 Congress launches guarantees for women in Rajasthan. Date 26/10/23 ED attack on Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Ji Dotasara, summons my son Vaibhav Gehlot to appear in ED. Now you can understand what I have said: the Red Rose of ED is taking place in Rajasthan because the BJP does not want women, farmers and the poor in Rajasthan to benefit from the guarantees provided by Congress.

“Raids took place but the Congress won the elections. The situation is worrying. They have unleashed terror in the country,” Gehlot told reporters at a press conference.
Asserting that the Congress “will not be afraid no matter how hard they try,” he alleged that the BJP had attacked him through ED raids as they could not topple his government.
“We will win the elections,” the Rajasthan chief minister assured.
Citing data, Gehlot said 112 searches by the ED took place during 10 years of UPA rule and charges were filed in 104 cases. But after 2014, as many as 3,010 raids took place and charges were filed in 881 cases, he said.
The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday raided the premises of Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra and Omprakash Hudla, the party’s candidate from Mahua Assembly seat, as part of a probe into money laundering money to the alleged leak of exam papers in the state where elections were held. The federal probe agency has also summoned Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot for questioning in a case related to alleged violation of the currency law.
After the raids, Congress workers sat on a dharna in Sikar and Jaipur and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
