Roy Krishna's brace saw Odisha FC register a dominant 4-1 win over Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 in Bhubaneswar on Friday. The Kalinga Warriors' talented and experienced attacking force clicked cohesively to fire four goals past the Jamshedpur FC defense in the first half, clinching victory and extending their unbeaten run to eleven games in all competitions. The visitors started the match strongly with Rei Tachikawa's stunner from outside the penalty area netting the opener in the 23rd minute.
However, the attacking trio of Roy Krishna, Isak Vanlalruatfela and Diego Mauricio's strike in the remaining twenty minutes helped Odisha FC make a comeback in the match.
Krishna was the star of the show, playing a crucial role in three of the four goals, apart from Mauricio's goal from the penalty kick. He set one up for the first time in the 27th minute for Isak, who deftly tapped in the youngster to score the equalizer. Nine minutes later, the Fijian forward pounced on Mauricio's shot after a rebound to give his side the lead from the right side of the penalty area.
Mauricio got his comeuppance in the extra time of the first half, earning a penalty for a foul by TP Rehenesh and smashing it into the net to score Odisha FC's third goal of the night.
After the home side's striker Isak sliced open Jamshedpur FC's backline, Krishna produced another fine finish to set up the fifth goal of the evening.
After the final whistle, the Odisha-based team registered a 4-1 win over the visitors.
Roy Krishna was adjudged 'Player of the Match' after his two-goal goal against Jamshedpur FC.
Odisha FC has completed the first half of the 2023-2024 ISL season with seven wins and three draws in twelve matches. Their dominance is the result of a free-flowing attacking unit, backed by a solid defensive line-up that has conceded just twelve goals so far.
On the other hand, the Red Miners need to make some corrections to ensure that the second half of the campaign unfolds in a better way for them.
