Former Indian cricket team all-rounder Irfan Pathan was all-round praise for youth batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and compared his outside play to that of Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly was known for his batting skills offside and over the years he received many compliments from fans and experts alike. Pathan said he was excited about Jaiswal after his recent heroics against England in the ongoing Test series and predicted that if he can play in the next decade, pundits will talk about his game as much as Ganguly's. Jaiswal showed brilliant form in the first two Tests against England, including a historic double ton to lead his team to victory in the second match.
“There is one player I am excited about and that is Yashasvi Jaiswal. Now it has to be seen how he performs in IPL. What an exciting player he is. He has the offside game, just like Dada (Sourav Ganguly). Just like we always saw him say, 'He is the king of the offside situation',” Irfan said at a public event broadcast by Star Sports.
“If he continues to play for the next ten years, we will talk about his game as much as Dada's. Jaiswal is one such player. And now he has scored a double hundred in the international hundred and has a great backstory,” Pathan added.
Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan said young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is a “problem” for the Three Lions and is an incredible player.
Vaughan spoke on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast. Jaiswal recently lit up Visakhapatnam with a marathon double century against England in the second Test, helping India secure a win.
Vaughan said on the podcast that he met Jaiswal in Mumbai last year and the next day he scored his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) century against Mumbai Indians (MI) and now he has a double ton against the “best team in the world”. .
“I would say he is a problem for England. He is a problem. He is an incredible player. I met him in Mumbai and he got a hundred the next day in the IPL. Now he has scored a double hundred.” against the best team in the world,” Vaughan said.
