Punjab Kings wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma became a victim of severe online abuse after he took out MS Dhoni during the IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday. Dhoni came to bat with just over two overs to go and was dismissed on the last ball of the innings after scoring 14 runs off 11 balls. Dhoni played a low full toss from Arshdeep Singh straight to the fielder at short third man but before he could finish the second run, Jitesh collected the throw and took off the bails.
While the run-out was a big piece of glovework from the youngster, some fans were not happy with Jitesh dismissing Dhoni for the first time in IPL 2024.
“It's good that you weren't selected for the World Cup. You let Thala finish, what difference does one run make?” wrote one user on Instagram.
'You should have understood, friend, that people watch matches for him. How bad we must feel, you let him run away, and besides, his leg is injured. I didn't expect this from you, buddy,” another user commented.
The match saw Punjab Kings defeat Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets to keep their IPL 2024 playoff dreams alive.

“Very happy. Anytime you come to Chennai and get two wins is always a special feeling. Like last year we lost many of our home games and won away, encountering a similar pattern. We are in a position in which we have to If we win all our matches, we will face the same opposition in a few days. I think if you come to Chennai, now you know how hot it is and the dew is settling.”
“Today we wanted to try something different by trying Rabada in the powerplay. We wanted to use our spinners later, so we tried KG in the powerplay. Chahar came back and was the best bowler in the 260 game, and he is bowling with a lot confidence. He stepped up when I asked him to bowl against MSD in the 19th over.”
“(On Chahar's bowling in the 19th) The pace bowlers finally went a bit crazy and I wanted to try something different. I asked Rilee what he thought and took a chance with spin. In this game everyone was going for When you run , you have to take gambles like that. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. We face the same opposition, so we have one for it.'
“It's a new game, new circumstances, but this win will give us a lot of confidence. I think our bowlers were fantastic, the spinners and Jonny hit them well, even the way we followed that chase, it was brilliant. on that trust,” said PBKS captain Sam Curran.
