One of Formula 1’s greatest athletes, Sebastian Vettel, retired from the sport at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday. With the Aston Martin, Vettel finished in 10th place in the standings. While there’s no denying that the German would have wanted to claim a podium spot, there was a charismatic smile on his face as he drew the curtains on his illustrious career. At the end of the race, Vettel performed the ‘doughnut’ to mesmerize fans.

Vettel, known as the ‘baby-faced killer’ during his early days in Formula 1, leaves a huge legacy, with four consecutive Drivers’ Championship titles (from 2010 to 2013).
“The decision was difficult for me to make and I thought about it for a long time,” Vettel said ahead of his last race.
“At the end of the year I want to take some time to think about what I’m going to focus on in the coming period.
“It’s very clear to me that as a father I want to spend more time with my family, but today it’s not about saying goodbye. It’s about saying thank you to everyone – not least the fans, without whose passionate support F1 couldn’t be to exist.”
Turning to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, it was Max Verstappen who finished on top of the podium to take his record-extending 15th win of the season.
