Apple has made waves in the tech world with the latest refresh to its iPad lineup, unveiled at its Let Loose event on May 7. The star of the show, the new iPad Air comes with notable improvements while maintaining its price point. Starting at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch variant, Apple has kept costs unchanged despite the improved storage options. iPad Air specifications
The new iPad Air has a wide range of features on the two available screen sizes. Notable additions include the addition of Center Stage, a relocated landscape edge camera, and improved landscape stereo speakers with spatial audio. The highlight, however, lies in the new Apple Silicon M2 chip, which is touted by the tech giant as a remarkable 50% faster than its predecessor, the M1.
Enhanced machine learning capabilities, such as visual retrieval and improved image editing, are supported by the M2 chip. The device is compatible with both the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil and also introduces support for the Apple Pencil's hover function. Additionally, storage options have been expanded, with the base model now offering 128GB as standard and the option to upgrade to as much as 1TB.
Despite these improvements, some features remain unchanged. Face ID is notably absent, while Touch ID still offers secure authentication. The new iPad Air also features 5G connectivity, meeting users' need for high-speed internet access on the go.
