Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2024 in Parliament today. This will be an interim budget as it comes just before the Lok Sabha elections. Ms Sitharaman has arrived at the Finance Ministry office. She will present the budget at 11 a.m.
This is Nirmala Sitharaman's sixth Union Budget. The full-fledged budget will be presented by the new government that comes to power after the elections.
The interim budget – a short-term financial plan – asks Parliament to request a grant in advance to cover the government's essential expenses for the first four months of the new financial year.
