The Delhi government has issued a notice in the government gazette on the traffic restrictions imposed in view of the upcoming G20 summit.
According to the notice published on Monday, all types of trucks, commercial vehicles, interstate buses and local city buses, such as Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses and Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System (DIMTS) buses, are not allowed to operate on Mathura Road (beyond the Ashram chowk), Bhairon Road, Purana Quila Road and in the Pragati Maidan tunnel from the intervening night of 7th and 8th September to 10th September.
“Heavy Cargo Vehicles (Trucks), Medium Duty Vehicles (MGVs) and Light Freight Vehicles (LGVs) are not allowed to enter Delhi from 9pm on 07.09.2023 to 11.59pm on 10.09.2023,” it read. .
However, trucks carrying essential goods such as milk, vegetables, fruits, medical supplies, etc., with valid “no entry permits” will enter Delhi, it added.
The entire area of New Delhi district will be considered as “Controlled Zone-I” from the morning of September 8 to 10. Only bona fide residents, authorized vehicles and vehicles engaged in housekeeping, catering, waste management, etc. for hotels, hospitals and other important installations in the district are allowed to drive on C-Hexagon, India Gate and other roads.
“From 05:00 AM on 09.09.2023 to 11:59 PM on 10.09.2023, no TSRs and taxis are allowed to enter or drive into New Delhi district,” the notice said.
However, all types of commercial vehicles, including the buses already in place in Delhi, are allowed to travel on the Ring Road and the road network beyond the Ring Road towards Delhi’s borders, it added.
“Taxis with bona fide residents and tourists with valid bookings in hotels in New Delhi district and intending to go to New Delhi railway station are allowed to operate on the road network in New Delhi district,” it read.
Vehicles belonging to the armed forces, paramilitary forces, police, disaster relief, fire trucks, ambulances and vehicles involved in emergency services such as road maintenance, electricity supply maintenance, water or sewerage, communication network etc. will be allowed to move through Delhi.
